Useful Camera Service Addresses in Paris

Taking good care of your camera is as important as taking care of your health, especially while traveling. The trouble is that when you are away from home, you might not be sure where to go for reliable camera stores and services. Our Photo Tour participants often ask us about servicing their gear, where to have their camera sensor cleaned or where to buy a fully charged battery. If you find yourself looking for such services, here are some useful addresses in Paris.

1. Help! I ran out of battery on my camera!

Most camera stores sell all types of batteries, however, you need to charge a brand new battery before using it. There is a better solution for those who are in a hurry in the city and do not want to go back to their hotel and wait for a couple of hours while their new battery is charging: a store that sells batteries already charged!

1001 PILES BATTERIES
There are several stores in Paris. The most centrally located one is at:
22, Rue des Halles, 75001 Paris
Phone: 01 40 26 51 15

Monday: 10:00AM – 1:00PM / 2:00PM – 6:30PM
Tuesday to Friday: 10:00AM – 7:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM – 1:00PM / 2:00PM – 6:30PM

2. There is dust on my camera sensor! Where can I get it cleaned in Paris?

If you have a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses, dust will inevitably get through to the sensor while changing the lenses. It is important to have it cleaned regularly to avoid dots and blobs on your images. You can buy a cleaning kit in most camera stores and do it yourself - it is not as difficult as it might seem. Or, if you have never done it before, you may want to have a professional to take care of it.

Boulevard Beaumarchais (near Bastille) is a magical place in Paris for photographers, with a high concentration of camera stores and services. Here are a few good addresses:
